Why We Support Mercy Centre
Mercy Centre, founded in 1972 by Father Joe Maier and Sister Maria Chantavoradom, is a long-standing community foundation in Bangkok’s Khlong Toei slums. What began as a small shelter has grown into a network of schools, orphanages, and community programs serving thousands of families every day.

Today, Mercy Centre operates five orphanages, a 300-pupil kindergarten, housing projects, health and welfare programs, and initiatives supporting children and adults living with HIV/AIDS. It also provides safe spaces – small gardens, playgrounds, and community halls – in the middle of some of Bangkok’s poorest neighborhoods.
Mercy Centre’s Mission
With over 50 years of history, Mercy Centre has worked hand in hand with more than 35 communities in Bangkok, and even extended its reach to Ranong Province. Its mission is simple yet powerful: to stand together with the poor, empower families, protect children’s rights, and create opportunities for a better future.

👉 We chose to support Mercy Centre because it is a trusted and deeply rooted organization that has been making a real difference for decades – right here in Bangkok, the city where most of us live and thrive. Supporting Mercy Centre is our way of giving back to the community and helping children who deserve the same opportunities we wish for our own.
About Thai.GER Supporters Bangkok
The Thai.GER Supporters Bangkok are a community of football fans, expat-families, and friends who have been organizing the annual Charity Football Tournament since 2010. Our aim is simple: to combine sports, fun, and fundraising – all for the benefit of children in need.
Since 2012, we have supported the Mercy Centre’s Romklao Preschool, helping more than 80 children in Khlong Toei gain access to education and a safe place to grow.
We’d love to hear from you – whether about the tournament, sponsorship, or simply to say hello.
